Mediteren, de één vindt het zweverig gedoe. De andere vindt dat hij/zij het niet kan, en weer een ander zweert erbij. En ik moet eerlijk toegeven dat ik bij de laatste categorie hoor. Ik vind het zelf eigenlijk zo gewoon, dat ik soms vergeet dat andere dat niet vinden. Of er misschien wel iets ‘geks’ van vinden. Ik deel hier met je waarom ik houd van mediteren.
Als er 1 tip is die ik kan geven, is het wel om als moeder zijnde te mediteren. Waarom?
1. Je stress level wordt enorm gereduceerd. Dit is bij mij vooral te merken aan dat ik veel meer kan ‘hebben’ als ik regelmatig ga zitten om te mediteren. Als er iets gebeurt bijv. met de kinderen of iedereen te gelijk in huis mijn aandacht wil. Dan heb ik voordat ik chagrijnig reageer, even een seconde of wat bedenktijd om te bedenken hoe ik het beste kan reageren. Als ik periodes niet mediteer. Dan ben ik een stuk minder begripvol en sneller geïrriteerd.
2. Ik voel me happy van binnenuit. Ik bedoel, ik ben heel eerlijk: ik ben echt niet altijd happy. Maar als ik regelmatig mediteer zijn mijn ‘down’ buien van kortere duur dan wanneer ik dat niet doe. Ik kan namelijk beter relativeren. Ik kan veel beter herinneren dat het wel weer voorbij gaat. Ik kan veel sneller bij het positieve gevoel. En dat is direct te merken voor mijn omgeving. Lees: mijn kids.
3. Het voelt letterlijk lichter als ik mediteer. Eigenlijk alles voelt lichter. Als iemand negatief reageert op mij of als ik het gevoel heb dat iemand negatief over mij denkt. Het raakt me veel minder.
4. Als mijn partner en ik ruzie hebben en ik mediteer regelmatig, dan merk ik dat ik veel beter kan aanvullen naast mijn boos zijn of gekwetst zijn of iets bij hem hoort of bij mij. Ik kan dan letterlijk kiezen om de ruzie te sussen of mee te gaan in mijn emoties en gevoelens. Heel bizar. Maar wel heel fijn. Dat wil niet zeggen dat ik altijd de verstandigste keuze maak. Daar mag ik nog aan werken 😉
Als moeder vind ik het gewoon heel erg fijn om een soort van controle uit te oefenen op mijn gedachte. Want een actie komt altijd voort uit een gedachte. En als je de gedachte kunt overdenken. Dan kun je de actie dus ook sturen. Als ik vol met stress zit en dus deze extra ruimte niet ervaar, dan ben ik een soort plofkip die elk moment door elke gebeurtenis zo kan ontploffen. Vandaar dat ik het gewoon erg prettig vind om dagelijks te mediteren. Het maakt het moeder zijn voor mij gewoon een stukje gemakkelijker!

Leuk ook dat Dolly Heuveling van Beek van Bureau Dolly, iemand die ik via het internet steeds beter heb leren kennen, een challenge organiseert om vaker te mediteren en meditatie in te bouwen als routine in je week. Zij leert ook hele korte meditaties die je eigenlijk overal even tussendoor kan doen. Lijkt me echt ideaal als moeder zijnde! Ik heb zelf mijn meditaties geleerd bij Art of Living. En deze zijn minimaal 20 minuten. Dus eigenlijk ben ik wel heel nieuwsgierig naar deze korte manier. Doen jullie mee? Ik wel. En dan zal ik weer met jullie delen wat ik aan verschil ervaar 😉
